North Ayrshire Council (NAC), in partnership with Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT), commissioned RPS Consultants to undertake a review of the existing access arrangements at the Largs and Cumbrae ferry terminals and develop options for improving access to both.
Since the Road Equivalent Tariff (RET) was introduced to the Largs – Cumbrae sailing in 2015, there has been an annual increase in vehicle and passenger journeys on the ferry crossing and, as there is currently limited vehicle and passenger queuing capacity at both ferry terminals, concerns have been raised about the extent of the vehicle queues.
The purpose of the study was to assess the impact of the increased traffic and to identify potential improvements for passengers.
North Ayrshire Council, through this consultation, are seeking your views on the options. Each option would offer potential improvements to the way the Largs-Cumbrae Ferry operates. The online public consultation will take place from Wednesday 31 March 2021 until Wednesday 26 May 2021 and can be accessed here.
After reviewing the material, we would like to hear your feedback by completing the online survey questionnaire. The questionnaire can be accessed using the questionnaire link here . Please view the material in the first instance before completing it. Our FAQs provide further information.
It is imperative that we get as much engagement from the community as possible. Therefore, can you please also complete the survey on behalf of family or friends who may not have internet access, as we look to involve as many people as possible during these challenging circumstances.
