Scotland’s Climate Assembly – recommendations for action

Scotland’s Climate Assembly published their report earlier this year. It included 81 recommendations for the Scottish Government, who had six months to respond. This response sets out the existing and proposed actions that government will take in order to address their recommendations.
National litter and flytipping strategy consultation

Support for action on fireworks and pyrotechnics

The feedback received as part of a public consultation on the Scottish Government’s Fireworks and Pyrotechnics Bill has been published. It shows high levels of support for the introduction of a new offence to criminalise the supply of fireworks to under-18s and the introduction of a fireworks licensing system.  
Domestic abuse: statistics recorded by the Police in Scotland – 2020/21

Statistics on domestic abuse recorded by the police in Scotland in 2020-21 have been published. The police recorded 65,251 incidents of domestic abuse, an increase of 4% compared to the previous year. This is the fifth year in a row this figure has shown an increase.
Low Income Winter Heating Assistance

A consultation has been launched on a new heating benefit to be introduced from winter 2022 to replace the current UK Government Cold Weather Payment scheme.
