We are a local peer support group who offer social activities to individuals who have suffered from Chest heart or stroke issues. We meet up once a fortnight to chat, play games talk about our issues, signpost to relevant support services.

This is all to keep our brains more active and keep us from being isolated. We have individuals within our group who are severely disabled and use a wheelchair and also her phone to “talk” to us due to a severe communication issue. we also have a Whatsapp group chat where we can support each other when feeling down etc and also to keep in touch between meetings.

We rely on funding to organise trips due to financial and ability restraints we organise a bus run and have to use a community transport service (that is out with North Ayrshire) which has buses suitable that we can all travel together. Without this the members of the group would never be able to travel to other areas in Scotland. We find this does wonders for their mental health and is a topic of conversation for the following. Our outgoings apart from the trips are low and everyone who attends puts in a £2 this is to cover refreshments. We used to get the room for free but have now been told that we have pay a let which we don’t have the funds for.
