Recorded Crime in Scotland: December 2021

A document outlining the crimes and offences recorded by the police in Scotland during the month of December 2021 has been published. The police in Scotland recorded 16,823 crimes in December 2021. This was 8% lower than the same month of 2020 and 12% lower than the crimes recorded in the same month of 2019.

Deposit Return Scheme
December 17th, 2021
The deposit return scheme will go live across Scotland on 16 August 2023, helping to recycle billions of bottles and cans every year. As part of the phased implementation, the Scottish Government is working with retailers on a voluntary basis to enable people to start returning their bottles and cans for recycling from November 2022.

Recorded Crime in Scotland: November 2021

Recorded Crime in Scotland shows that the police in Scotland recorded 18,533 crimes in November 2021. This was 9% lower than the 20,331 crimes recorded in the same month of 2020 and 8% lower than the 20,087 crimes recorded in the same month of 2019.

Scotland’s Climate Assembly – recommendations for action

Support for action on fireworks and pyrotechnics

The feedback received as part of a public consultation on the Scottish Government’s Fireworks and Pyrotechnics Bill has been published. It shows high levels of support for the introduction of a new offence to criminalise the supply of fireworks to under-18s and the introduction of a fireworks licensing system.
