The Scottish Government has announced an additional £1 billion to support the development of the schools’ estate across Scotland, but no decision has been made about how that money will be directed or distributed.
As a result, on 15th January 2019 the Cabinet of North Ayrshire Council authorised officers to develop proposals for an education and community campus in Ardrossan. The initial proposals include:
- A replacement for the existing Ardrossan Academy;
- A replacement for the existing Winton Primary School and Early Years Class;
- A swimming pool and fitness suite, currently provided at Auchenharvie Leisure Centre in Stevenston;
- Accommodation for the Health and Social Care Partnership; and
- A library for use by the public, currently provided at Ardrossan library.
