Scotland’s National Strategy for 20mph speed limits advocates the vision: “Slower today for a safer tomorrow”.
The Scottish Government has committed to working with local authorities to reduce the speed limit in our towns, cities and villages to 20 mph, where appropriate.
North Ayrshire Council is inviting feedback from residents, businesses, and road users following the temporary introduction of 20mph speed limits across residential streets and selected urban areas. This consultation aims to understand public views and experiences of the measures, including their impact on road safety, active travel, and local communities. Feedback will help inform decisions on the potential permanent implementation and future development of the 20mph programme.
