In the first phase of consultation over the summer, North Ayrshire Council collected ideas for the development from the local community, young people and school pupils and listened to the views of hundreds of people through drop-in events and online surveys.
The feedback provided ideas on the ways the future park would be used and the facilities required to support this. They also provided ideas on improving accessibility and how local heritage could be represented in the design. Those initial ideas have helped develop a first draft plan for the wider Lochshore park which is now available to view here. The draft plan develops the ideas and suggestions provided and reveals a vision for what could be built at Lochshore, complementing the first phase projects already in progress. The Council is now inviting further debate and validation of this draft plan before a final plan is produced.
We are also inviting comments on the design of 10ha of new native woodland at the north of the site as part of this consultation. The Green Action Trust are leading on this aspect of the project and there will be future opportunities for the local community to be involved in the development of this woodland.
You can provide comments on the draft design here or by emailing lochshore@north-ayrshire.gov.uk
