Irvine has been successful in securing a UK Government award under the Plan for Neighbourhood programme. The funding award provides £20million of investment in the town over 10 years.

Funding Directed through a Town Board

The funding requires the establishment of a Town Board comprising local people, businesses and political representatives, to develop. Oversee and a deliver a long-term Plan for Regeneration.

IRVINE TOWN BOARD

In line with North Ayrshire Council Cabinet approval received in 2023, and with the membership requirements set out by UK Government, it was agreed the Town Board is a sub-group of the existing Irvine Locality Partnership.

Volunteers from the Irvine Locality Partnership were requested to serve on the Town Board. In line with UK Government guidance, local Elected Members, the local MP and the local Senior Police Officer are also required to be members of the Town Board. The Board has developed a Regeneration Plan for Irvine which was approved by UK Government in November 2025.

Neighbourhood Board Chair Vacancy

The Irvine Neighbourhood Board requires a new Chair to build on to oversee the delivery of the Regeneration Plan, and North Ayrshire Council are inviting expressions of interest for Chair. The role is open to someone who is ‘from’, living or working in the area, holding a prominent role in the community.

Th Chair should act as a champion for the place and local people, organising engagement that reaches out into the community, to ensure decision-making is community led. The Chair will lead the process of convening the Board, with the support of the local authority and the local MP.

This position requires someone who can bring the community together to share their ideas in an open and collaborative way. The Chair should have a deep connection to their area however they may be new to this kind of work. What matters most is a commitment to seeing change through and improving the lives of those in their community.
