The Third Sector Interface North Ayrshire

Who We Are

The Third Sector Interface is The Ayrshire Community Trust and the Arran Community and Voluntary Service which act as the link between the Community Planning Partnerships and the community and voluntary organisations in North Ayrshire.

In 2008, the Scottish Government changed the way it funded organisations which connect the Statutory and Third Sectors. At that time, the Ayrshire Community Trust (TACT) was formed by bringing together the Council of Voluntary Services (North Ayrshire) and The Volunteer Centre. TACT and Arran Council of Voluntary Services (ACVS) are now the organisations in North Ayrshire which perform this role.

TACT and ACVS formed a partnership which can enter into funding agreement with the Scottish Government to deliver on the four key outcomes below.

What We Do

  • We support local and national community and voluntary organisations who deliver services locally in North Ayrshire.
  • We support volunteers and promote volunteering
  • We support and help develop social enterprise
  • We connect the Community Planning Partnership and the Third (or Voluntary) Sector by ensuring communication and understanding between them.

TACT and ACVS have their own areas of responsibility as part of the Third Sector Interface. Both organisations are fully committed to fulfilling these four agreed outcomes.

Our different areas of responsibility are outlined below. This will help you get in touch with the right person.

The Ayrshire Community Trust

TACT will endeavour to provide a single point of contact, on the mainland, for anybody interested in volunteering, developing their community group or organisation. They will also be involved in consulting with community and voluntary groups across North Ayrshire on a number of topics such as community safety, community education, Social Enterprise and economic development. Partnership will be at the heart of everything TACT does.

Arran Community and Voluntary Service

Arran CVS are the main point of contact for issues relating to Health and Social Care, and Locality Partnerships. Arran CVS works with emerging and established community groups to make sure that local needs are met. Arran CVS can help with the setting up of a new group or organisation and can advise on everything from legislative advice to how best to engage with volunteers and the community. ACVS can also help provide office services for groups and public users.
